Late in the month he leaves for Paris, where, in the course of his city walks he sees the Temple where Louis XVI is imprisoned, the palace which has been stormed, and the Place du Carrousel, a recent scene of carnage.

He fears being published, and is 'easy' now about the theatre; if he undertakes another play, it will be 'purposely' written, either for reading or for the stage.
